Saltate a bordo, the life is good!

THE STORY BEGINS

“Also important are the consequences,” says Justo Dieguez, the creator founder of KFM – Keys Fighting Method.
Sunday, May 22, 2011: presentation of KFM in Rome, the capital of Italy.
The air we breathe is typical of the great moments, the energy in the room of the beautiful Villa Aurelia Sporting Club is about to explode.
The music charge the air as the numerous participants warm up the muscles and the tension mounts …
Here, it’s time, all sit in front of Justo Dieguez (Founder, KFM) Grek (Ambassador World KFM), Maurizio Zuppa (Italian Ambassador to KFM), Gabriel Leka (Australian Ambassador to KFM), Cristiano Greco (Instructor Tuscan KFM) and me: Dorian Colombi (KFM Instructor in Rome).
The emotion of those who are short of breath, are in fact just a few moments for the words of Justo Dieguez thrown open the doors of the multidimensional world of KFM.
With his natural charisma and ability to interact with those who are listening, Justo goes straight to the stomach of the participants, despite talk in a foreign language.
Many people outside the hall looks curiously through the glass, the typical movements of the shadow fighting, la sombra! By now, even Rome was conquered by KFM!
During the seminar it was interesting to see how other martial arts instructors, or practitioners of various systems, as well as people who had never approached the martial world, they were together, transported by the desire to understand and put into questioning. Yes, because the KFM method has this very important feature: nothing is predefined and does not provide the answers we would expect to find. Keysi is an ongoing investigation, an endurance training, not only physical but mainly inner: “spirit, mind and body,” these are the three pillars of the method created by Justo with his brotherly friend Andy Norman, co-founder of KFM.
Justo and Grek show with passion and all that is Keysi: vitality, will, reactive energy, tenacity, strength .. In one word: instinct.
Should be thoroughly investigated to develop their natural instinct of survival, practicing a continuous adaptation to the real situation in which from time to time you can find. And this is precisely the aim of Justo: to ensure that you get all of questioning: If we want to learn how to swim would certainly be easier and more reassuring preparing to do so within preset visible limits (the edges on the sides the pool). But what would become of us if we were starting to swim in the middle of an ocean? Here, it is precisely here that we must start, understanding who we are and where we are at that particular time. Life is unpredictable and all Keysi represents this inescapable reality.
As explained by Justo, Keysi brings together in a journey of freedom and life out of the cage-oriented constraints, discovering their natural abilities and to develop them.
The method differs from any system that provides default answers, just because it stimulates a continuing investigation of himself.
In fact, to be free is the hardest thing to conquer, you must discover and reinvent yourselve every day.
People sweat in the meantime, have fun and understand that they are not participating in one of the many seminars of martial arts. They feel protagonists, grasp the vitality of Justo and Grek, and are carried away by it, so they begin gradually to abandon old patterns.
Everything in the Keysi is the demonstration that human capabilities can lead to revolutionize their lives without the fear of getting lost.
The training is so addictive that we get to the end of almost four hours of fighting without even realizing it. It always happens like that when you are having fun and you are fine, the passage of time seems to disappear.

A huge thank to all those who partecipated at this event and those who have contributed to its implementation, thanks to them everything went perfectly. Many thanks to the Villa Aurelia Sporting Club for the hospitality and courtesy.
Thanks to Grek, Maurizio, Gabriel and Cristiano: an honor to be part of the KFM family with you.
And finally thanks to Justo Dieguez that gave us a demonstration of the essence of Keysi: a constant search for knowledge. Keysi is all that and much, much more: are you ready to begin this journey? Jump on board, the life is good!

Daniel Massanet Memorial Seminar – 27/2/11

I’ve just come back from the third annual Daniel Massanet Memorial Seminar in Palma de Mallorca, and I wanted to say thanks to everyone who I met and trained with throughout the day. It was amazing to see how KFM still flourishes on the island of Mallorca, and that Dani’s legacy still grows strong – you’d have been proud my friend.

The training in each of the KFM programmes was awesome! Firstly World Ambassador Grek showed and developed some different applications within the Pensador. Even all these years in its still amazing how versatile and devastating a weapon it really is!! Then KFM’s Founder Justo taught some crazy developments from the Urban Weaponry programme… When you start to understand that it’s the mind that’s the real weapon, regardless of what you may or may not have in your hand, it really is incredible how you can grow!

Next up Andy (KFM’s Co-Founder) showed some destructive applications from the “Dekem ‘n’ Rekem” MMA programme… Ouch!!! I really like this new programme, and seeing how the things from the Urban X can be applied and developed in a sporting context is a real (and very painful) eye opener!

The energy in the room was fantastic from start to finish, and everyone really enjoyed the training; whether they were professional KFM Instructors, children, women, students old or very new… It really was a great day in memory of a great man.

A big thanks to Justo, Andy, Grek and Ruben, all the Mallorcan students and instructors and of course Antonia and Tomeo – it’s always great to see you and how grown up you are getting now!!

Until the next time,

James.

Technique collectors

If you fall victim to this viral infection of the mind you will undoubtedly turn into a forum keyboard warrior. There is no cure once infected as these people really do believe that they know what they are talking about, and no amount of arguing on the screen is going to change their infected and deluded thought processes. These people really do take the time out of their lives to sit in a chair and fight on the screen about things of which they know nothing about, because if they did they wouldn’t need to retaliate against their insecure ego nor would they be a part of this lost army of mentally deluded fantasy merchants.
Debating about a technique really has no direction; what is supposed to be the objective of this style of argument and how is it possible to achieve a conclusion? Technique debating is equivalent to masturbating, self-gratifying. If you really want to understand something then you need to study, if you are looking for a physical answer then your study needs to be physical in the first instance; after you can study your conclusions, and, alone, you can decide if you have found what you where looking for: if not, you just keep on searching till you find a way that fulfils your requirements.

Conclusion
Chose your journey carefully, don’t get mixed up in the “this vs that” debate as it has no answer, don’t think your way is the only way or the best way. Observe everything and question everything, study and question your opinions and conclusions, investigate the physical and emotional answers you arrive with, continue evolving daily in order to keep developing your ability and understanding of the way you have chosen.

Last but not least, enjoy, if not what the hell are you doing for anyway.

Human Instict (action-reaction)

Development of natural instinctive reaction is the best way to get the best out of you! This may sound totally obvious, but it’s not. Your instinct is your instinct and no technique can change that. There is so much confrontation these days as to what style or technique is best, but you won’t find the answer there because the answer doesn’t lie within the style or technique, it lies (dormant in most people) within the blood. Once this part has been accepted by the mind, the process of instinctive development can begin.

It really is very important to understand that fighting goes way beyond technique. There are too many people who think that because they know a few more drills than you, that they automatically become more capable fighters. This is so wrong and in many cases will get those who think this way into serious trouble, trouble that they can’t stop just because they’ve had enough, it doesn’t work like that. A bad confrontation in the street may well change your life forever, good or bad it has consequences that are not easy to carry emotionally, and you will carry. Therefore the essence of KFM is the study and cultivation of pure instinct and not that of a “technique collector”.

The Thinkingman (PENSADOR)

The Pensador (Thinking man) is the natural evolution of instinctive human reaction and it’s the nucleolus from which all development within the KFM is sourced. Across the centuries many martial arts have studied the forms of animals as a source of inspiration. Unfortunately the human continues to be the cruellest and most calculating predator of all; for this reason KFM dedicates its studies towards trying to understand the ways of the human, its mind and all its emotional instabilities.
The subject of the Pensador instigates many debates… Really the pensador is an expression that has been cultivated into an extremely brutal close quarter method of fighting, it’s like a hidden world with so much to offer, yet most are afraid to look, or are to insecure to look in case they find something that they don’t understand, and that might make them look stupid, why?, well they have put them selves on such a high pedestal that it becomes almost impossible to step down. The problem with this kind of self promoting ego is they distance themselves so far from what’s actually happening on a day to day basis that they seldom train anymore, and now the real problems start… they would like to keep learning, but are afraid to show their students that maybe they don’t know everything, and they only reason the students have this picture is because the teacher painted it for them.

So to stop, look and listen is a great skill and if you’re are genuinely capable of doing that, then maybe you will find a whole new wave of inspiration!

Keysi fighting method

There has been so much speculation about the Keysi fighting method across the past years. The forums have been full of mixed and controversial opinions ranging from inquisitive or undecided remarks all the way through to complete verbal assassination of the method. KFM has been compared with many arts such as Krav Maga, Jeet kune do, kali, silat and the likes…

In truth KFM is an expression & reflection of what Justo & Andy have experienced throughout the lives so far… KFM is not from China, Japan or the Far East, nor is it shrouded in secrecy…. With promises of secret powers, far from it, its core is fuelled by constant research and investigation with a hunger for grater knowledge and personal growth.

People will always see what they want to see, and hear what they want to hear, and nobody can change that one… so we don’t waste our time worrying about what people think, instead we prefer to spend our energy in a more positive way.

MMA

The ethos of the new KFM “Dekem ‘n’ Rekem MMA program is to provoke, challenge and question everything that we think we already know, and by doing so; we can then surpass our self imposed mental limits and thus cross over into a place that exists way beyond the boundaries of the typical conditioned mind, this is the place where we are truly able to challenge our thoughts in a constructive manner, hence we are able to find and discover new and physically intriguing applications that may have eluded us till now..
